Mo Jamshidi (Fellow IEEE, Fellow ASME, Fellow NYAS, Fellow TWAS and Fellow AAAS) received Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in1971, and also received an honorary doctorate. He is the Regents Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the AT&T Professor of Manufacturing Engineering, Professor of Mechanical Engineering and founding Director of Center for Autonomous Control Engineering - ACE at the University of Texas at San Antonio, San Antonio, TX, USA.

He has over to 550 technical publications including 58 books and edited volumes. Six of his books have been translated into at least one foreign language.

As an engineering academician, he has graduated 35+ Ph.D. and 41+ MS students and has supported and overseen the graduate education of an additional 60 students at the ACE Center through NASA-funded grants and agreements. Among these 120 graduate degrees he has advised or mentored about 54 (45%) are from America’s ethnic minorities. His funded research amounts to approximately US $18 ML in a span of 20 years. From this over $ 7 ML was from non-minority funding sources

He is the Founding Editor or co-founding editor or Editor-in-Chief of 5 journals (including Elsevier's International Journal of Computers and Electrical Engineering), Wiley’s Intelligent and Fuzzy SystemsCo-Ediotr-in-Chief since incdption in 1992) and one magazine (IEEE Control Systems Magazine). He is a co-publisher of WAC’S Official Publication – Intelligent Automation and Soft Computing (TSI Press, 1995- present). Professor Jamshidi is recipient of the IEEE Centennial Medal, IEEE Control Systems Society Distinguished Member Award, and the IEEE Control Systems Society Millennium Pin.
